She was eighteen today. Was it really possible? Had she really made it? She didn't feel that different, but it was official, little Dawnie wasn't a kid anymore. As she looked around the room at all the people she loved, she was disappointed by the absence of one very important person. But as she leaned forward to blow out her candles, a hand slipped into hers.
"Make a wish, Nibblet." Dawn squeezed the hand firmly and extinguished the flames.
As the rest of the group burst out in applause, Dawn whispered back, "Maybe tonight I'll fulfill one of your wishes."
