by Red WolfIt was hot work, digging holes to bury demon components. The desert sand may have been friable, but as easy as it was to dig, it just as easily slipped back into the excavations. At least it was cool in the desert air and Buffy had elected to leave them alone to complete their task.
"Stupid Buffy sneakers."
"You didn't get sconed by a spade, Bit." Spike rubbed the sore spot on the back of his head.
Dawn held up the car keys with an evil gleam in her eye. "Fancy giving me a driving lesson on the way home."

Love it! Just one question - in this context, I'm guessing "sconed" means "hit"? :) — via LiveJournal

Scone is a slang term for head, so sconed is hit in the head by an object. Not unlike nutted, but another head is involved — via LiveJournal

Bollocks. Scone appears to only be an Australian term, I thought it was in use further afield. Huh. You learn something new everyday.
It was funny to find it used in a sports report — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 09.03.2004 09:39 AEST |

Personally, I've only ever heard it in reference to some Scottish/British snack of some sort. Good thing I'm a fast learner — LiveJournal
