I wake with a start, my hand to my throat. Checking for the blood I'm sure is there, but never is.

I haven't woken that way in years, feeling the ghosts of monsters past breathing in my ear. They're probably dead, but they were around a long time and sometimes I wonder if being sucked into an unknown void was enough to finish them.

I may be the Warrior of London Below, but I was once a man afraid of the dark. And what the creatures of darkness feared were Croup and Vandemar.

Foregoing sleep, I walk through the underside.

I had the telly on in the background last night and was ignoring Silent Witness. Half an hour in, I look up and there's Mr Vandemar consoling the victim's family. All I could think was that he'd killed whoever (despite him being a cop) and would soon start eating small animals. I couldn't get into the show after that.

Did you know that A&E released Neverwhere on DVD? The clever little monkeys region zeroed it too, to cash in on all of the worldwide fans who've been waiting years for the BBC to do a DVD release. It is lovely ::pats Neverwhere DVDs::
