by Red WolfThe best spot I've seen for the generation of static electricity sparkage was one of those public park plastic kiddie gym things that Parramatta council had installed.
To make it safer for the sprogs who were still getting the hang of walking upright, they installed a soft fall around the equipment using artificial grass. While council may not have been hip to the static electricity potential of artificial grass, I was and used to spend many an amusing hour watching small children hurtle down the plastic slide to be loudly discharged by the metal bolts at the end.
I'm guessing there were complaints, as it was disappointing to discover the 'grass' was soon replaced with recycled rubber bricks.

That was hilarious. I mean it wasn't really a story; more a short opinion essay, but hey, what can you? lol — via FictionPress
