A trip to 17th century Kyoto found Rose in 21st century Tokyo. She was never sure if these detours were down to dodgy piloting or retaliation by the TARDIS after one encouraging thump with a mallet too many.
Frowning as she read a poster on the platform, Rose turned to the Doctor. "What's a Shinkansen and why does it eat people? Is this a Godzilla thing?"
"It's the bullet train. It's a warning to stay away from the edge of the platform."
"Couldn't they just say to mind the gap?" The train flashed past on an adjacent platform. "Never mind."
