Park 17: Contradiction

Contradictionby Red Wolf

Spike wondered how someone with such heterodox beliefs could be involved in law enforcement.

"Puppy is a different flavour officer." Drusilla deftly caught four bones on the back of her hand in a game of knucklebones.

"I belong to an InterPol department specialising in finding things; information, objects, people, not necessarily bringing them in alive."

Wolf had just come off a year's secondment to the BND in West Germany. Her brother Declán got sent to InterPol's Hong Kong branch and, being at a loose end, she had gone walkabout.

"Word's come through that I've been reassigned to some London agency."

I'll say! ;0) — via LiveJournal — posted by Grandmum at 02.05.2004 15:13 AEST | #

If you're going have a career when you're a werewolf, you may as well play to your strengths — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 02.05.2004 15:14 AEST | #

Nice character interplay — and I love Dru and her new bones! — but it feels like it's setting up for something rather than being complete in and of itself — via LiveJournal — posted by Elizabeth Culmer at 02.05.2004 15:18 AEST | #

I was worried about that. It's not so much a setup leading off on another tangent, as placing Wolf in a set time.

What Wolf gets up to in her new assignment doesn't involve Spike or Drusilla, but it has been written: Guardians — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 02.05.2004 15:28 AEST | #

Ah! Wolf's part of Interpol. Interesting. And hey! Drusilla's playing knucklebones! — via LiveJournal — posted by alliterator at 02.05.2004 15:29 AEST | #

At this point in time, Wolf works for InterPol but is seconded out to other agencies to train personnel. Her brother and partner, the more personable of the pair, just got sent to the Hong Kong office and it was suggested that Wolf take a vacation before killed someone at InterPol. Which is how she came to be galivanting around with Spike and Drusilla.

I had to get knucklebones in somewhere, it seemed a shame not to use it. Dru plays the child's version of the game, rather than the fascinating adult version that you found — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 02.05.2004 15:37 AEST | #

You've got me on the edge of my seat.

What is Wolf's new assignment?

Is Spike ever going to stop being confused? — via LiveJournal — posted by Dawn S at 02.05.2004 15:38 AEST | #

Wolf's assignment won't be addressed in the Park!verse, but it was written, many moons ago and, at almost 29,000 words, proves I can write more than drabbles. You can find Guardians on my main site.

I don't know whether I can unconfuse Spike. At the moment he's the darker side of the black and white divide, although he's far from the evil of Angelus, he's still the big bad spoiling for a fight.

As a monster in a human world, Wolf walks the grey areas of that world. She's not saddled with that pesky thou shalt not kill humans clause of the Slayers, but she has her own sense of morality — vampires need to eat, city needs less rapists, loss of rapist isn't going to worry too many people, all is well with the world.

Spike gets that, I just don't think he's ever considered living within society rather than on its fringes before — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 02.05.2004 15:57 AEST | #
