Molasses

Molassesby Red Wolf

Rachel smiled as she listened to Dawn singing along with the radio. She had a good voice, unlike Rachel, who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. On the plus side, Rachel had managed to knock out a Vrykolp demon with her singing voice, a feat that would have been even more impressive if he hadn't been a prospective client.

Shaking herself out of her reverie, Rachel realised that Dawn had stopped singing and was looking slightly stunned. "What?"

"I just realised that song is about a serial killer."

"Stellar detective skills."

Dawn grinned at Rachel. "Better later than never."

This Rachel character intrigues me. I may have to go read some of your London!verse now — via LiveJournal — posted by Vixen at 11.07.2005 14:23 AEST | #

Nice to hear you like her, hope you enjoy the London!verse. Aside from the multipart Rome, it's mostly snippets of stories in a post Not Fade Away world — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 14:23 AEST | #

But it's so bouncy! And serial killers are so much fun... :-) — via LiveJournal — posted by Elizabeth Culmer at 11.07.2005 14:24 AEST | #

And, like a good serial killer, this one snuck up on Dawn to deliver the goods — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 14:25 AEST | #

Rachel is very interesting. Why do I have this idea that she's Dawn's daughter? — via LiveJournal — posted by honey_offering at 11.07.2005 14:26 AEST | #

She isn't Dawn's daughter, she's Dawn's non-occult research assistant — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 14:26 AEST | #

Hey look! You've discovered Rachel's superpower! LOL! — via LiveJournal — posted by Moonbeam at 11.07.2005 14:27 AEST | #

I couldn't resist.

I wanted to add something about the coffee demons worshipping cacophony (as well as the almighty bean) and venerating her as a demi-god, but hit the word limit. May have to find a home for that another time. I did get to use your couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, so was quite happy to get that in there — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 14:28 AEST | #

Thanks! I had the urge for amusement last night — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 14:29 AEST | #

Hee! Good choice in songs; that's a fun one — via LiveJournal — posted by semby at 11.07.2005 14:29 AEST | #

I guess most of us have had this happen at one time or another — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 14:30 AEST | #

Ohh, lord. You would select one about a killer. Typical. ::laughs::

Good one! :D — via LiveJournal — posted by IrishVampire13 at 11.07.2005 14:31 AEST | #

It's all terribly predictable, isn't it?

Nice to know I've amused you — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 14:31 AEST | #

Predictable, yes. In a good way, of course. :-) — via LiveJournal — posted by IrishVampire13 at 11.07.2005 14:32 AEST | #

Hee! Songs can be like that. You listen to them because you like the beat. Then you listen closely to the words, or read the lyrics and you discover what it's actually about. Love the bantering between the two also — via LiveJournal — posted by Chessie at 11.07.2005 14:34 AEST | #

Thanks! Rachel is always fun to write — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 14:34 AEST | #

I liked both drabbles. Andrew and his dolls hee. and ashamed to say I don't know this Beatles song. I should go look it up — via Fire & Ice Fic — posted by Dana at 11.07.2005 15:42 AEST | #

LOL! I hate that song. I get it in my head and can't get rid of it. Love the drabble though — via LiveJournal — posted by Sandra Strait at 11.07.2005 15:49 AEST | #

The horror of the earworm! Sorry to infect you.

I've found that the badgers are good for getting rid of earworms. This could be a problem if you find the badgers worse than the orginal earworm — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 11.07.2005 15:50 AEST | #

Oh, too cute. At least I won't — mushroom, mushroom — get that song stuck in my head — mushroom,mUSHRoom — via LiveJournal — posted by Sandra Strait at 11.07.2005 15:51 AEST | #

Another great example of boiling a whole, complete story down to a few sentances. And Dawn does have a great singing voice, although I understand Michelle T. thinks otherwise — via fanfiction.net — posted by Mark at 11.07.2005 16:06 AEST | #

That's funny and I loved it! — via The Batpack — posted by Sarah Leathers at 11.07.2005 16:09 AEST | #
