Mischief 14: Off Limits

Off Limitsby Red Wolf

When the new stock arrived, Dawn, and therefore Spike, had been banished to the loft where the restricted books were kept.

Dawn didn't mind, she was out from underfoot and could spread her work out to her heart's content without being glared at. Looking down on the Magic Box made her feel like they were in their own private aerie.

"What are you doing?" she hissed under her breath as Spike leafed through a book he'd taken off the shelves.

Spike flashed her a lopsided grin. "Just looking for something to ensorcell Xander."

Dawn dropped her research and joined him.

Ah, back up to their old tricks... I've always loved the word "aerie". Brings up visions of nests in the clouds and other such. Nicely done! — via LiveJournal — posted by Willa at 15.08.2004 14:18 AEST | #

It is a rather evocative word. Many thanks, as always, for your comments — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 15.08.2004 14:18 AEST | #

Loved the fic! I love it when these two work together toward some nefarious end.

I know you told me once before, but could you share your on-line dicitonary with me once again — I'm not finding the big words. ;-)) — via LiveJournal — posted by Murielle at 15.08.2004 14:24 AEST | #

No worries. I always link the challenges back where they came from, Word of the Day 100 in particular always includes the word meanings and a link to dictionary.com.

Aerie
[noun]
1. the bird's nest built on a lofty place, such as a cliff or mountaintop
2. a dwelling or stronghold located in a lofty place

Ensorcell

1. to enchant; to bewitch

If you switch to the Mozilla Suite or Mozilla Firefox as a browser there are some really nice extensions. Dictionary Search allows you to highlight a word on a web page, right-click it and you're given a menu that includes the option to search the dictionary or thesaurus for it — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 15.08.2004 14:26 AEST | #

Dawn up the the restricted section, with Spike tagging along? Ohhh, trouble. Was she sent up there, by like...Anya, to restock? 'Cause you think the Scoobies would be smarter than that. :) I can't wait for the next drabble to see what they end up doing to Xander.

By the way, do you mind if I friend you? I adore reading all your works, but half the time forget until they pop up on ff.net — via LiveJournal — posted by Nummy Treat at 15.08.2004 14:42 AEST | #

She was sent up there by Anya when a huge shipment arrived and Dawn was getting in the way working at the table.

Friend away, happy you enjoy my writing — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 15.08.2004 14:43 AEST | #
