by Red WolfThe TARDIS rarely failed when it came to speech, but the finer nuances of Thergart body language were proving to be well and truly lost in the translation.
So far Rose had managed to ask the deeply amused shopkeeper if she could dine on his second most-loved daughter.
Jack's assistance wasn't much better. Amid much arm-waving and gesticulation, he'd managed to add a completely different, yet typically Jack, emphasis to the word dine.
The Doctor joined his companions and ordered lunch with a flourish, quietly apologising for inflicting tourists on the locals. He'd forgotten that humans could be this embarrassing.

He'd forgotten that humans could be quite so embarrassing.
Yeah, he should try being human sometime, if he wants a fine example of what embarrassing can truly be. Lol! — via LiveJournal — posted by IrishVampire13 at 22.10.2005 15:10 AEST |

Your friends can always find ways to embarrass you in public, but no one can do it quite like your own mother — via LiveJournal

::grins:: I take it you've been the victim of such a situation. Thus far, I've been lucky; my own mom has only embarrassed me in private. ::cringes at the memory of her trying to discuss sex with me a few years back:: Some things should not be discussed with a parent. — via LiveJournal

LOL It's funny 'cos it's true.
Jack's quite right though, you do have to wave your hands about a lot when you're talking to foreigners. My upstairs neighbours are Eastern European Gypsies and yesterday us girls were sitting round having a hilarious chat about what Viola should do with her new hairdo, all in sign language. Wonder if I was insulting their sister's mother's goat? ;) — via LiveJournal — posted by Grandmum at 22.10.2005 15:18 AEST |

You should be right, goats tend not to worry about insults. Owners of goats, on the other hand... — via LiveJournal
