Gastronome

Gastronomeby Red Wolf

Andrew stared into his plastic take-away container in confusion. He poked at the contents with a spork, but they still insisted on looking like the insides of a Ghilmn demon. Spearing an orange-striped crescent, he brandished it at Dawn. "What is this?"

"Tiger prawn." She was attacking her own lunch with relish.

"And this?" Andrew picked up what looked like a large, white rubber band.

"That's calamari," Rachel explained, popping a baby octopus into her mouth. "It's a squid."

Andrew shuddered. London may be a culinary adventure for the girls, but he drew the line at eating things with tentacles.

Andrew's not adventurous in his food, but given that it might look like a demon he fought, you can't blame him! — via LiveJournal — posted by Jan at 10.09.2007 19:34 AEST | #

I can't see Sunnydale being a centre of dining excellence, but the lad does need to stretch his horizons a little now he's out in the real world — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:35 AEST | #

now now Andrew, calamari is delicious — via LiveJournal — posted by cornerofmadness at 10.09.2007 19:36 AEST | #

As are tiger prawns and octopus. Yum! — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:36 AEST | #

Hee! I totally agree. I once ordered a Frutti Di Mari plate and a baby squid crawled off my plate and expired. ::shudder::

I had a lot of bread and butter, that meal — posted by beadattitude at 10.09.2007 19:37 AEST | #

But tentacles taste good... — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:38 AEST | #

::folds lips firmly shut and makes the universal face of nuh-uh, not eating that::

Unless of course, it's fresh and fried, and I can forget what it is — via LiveJournal — posted by beadattitude at 10.09.2007 19:39 AEST | #

I'm on Andrew's side with this one. A meal that can feel its way going down your esophagus is not for everyone — via LiveJournal — posted by IrishVampire13 at 10.09.2007 19:39 AEST | #

I love calamari. Pretty beasties. When you swim with them they point their tentacles at you and change colour to disappear into the sea floor. And they taste good. Mmm... tentacles... — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:40 AEST | #

One final thing...

Since you defriended me, you won't be able to read this anymore through your Memories, what with my LJ being friends-locked. But since I did write it for you, I don't want to deprive you of sillygiggles.

see food and eat it

Well, someone had to say it. It's way too tempting to resist — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:42 AEST | #

I side with Andrew on this one! Good drabble — via LiveJournal — posted by semby at 10.09.2007 19:43 AEST | #

But tentacles are delicious... And if you rip the heads of prawns they make excellent finger puppets to torture your siblings with — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:44 AEST | #

LOL! Too funny. Expect Andrew's had some experience with tentacles that's put him off? :) — via LiveJournal — posted by lillianmorgan at 10.09.2007 19:44 AEST | #

I expect he has too. Poor Andrew. Can't be a fun thing to find that lunch looks like demon guts — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:45 AEST | #

Very cute! Poor unsophisticated Andrew! :) — via LiveJournal — posted by tinpanalley at 10.09.2007 19:46 AEST | #

Maybe he's just seen the insides of too many demons to appreciate seafood — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:47 AEST | #

Silly Andrew! Calamari is good. (I like his visual assessment of the food, though. It does seem to be a very in-character simile) — via LiveJournal — posted by Elizabeth Culmer at 10.09.2007 19:49 AEST | #

Associating food with bad things can really put you off it and Andrew would have seen more nasty things than most. Maybe they should have blind-folded him first — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:50 AEST | #

LOL! I'm with Andrew for once.

You have such a way of making the more commonplace moments hilarious — via LiveJournal — posted by myfeetshowit at 10.09.2007 19:51 AEST | #

Andrew brings out the silly in me. Although, it doesn't ned much encouragement — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 10.09.2007 19:51 AEST | #
