Rachel pushed her chair back from her desk and stretched. "I thought you were having lunch with the boys."

Dawn sat at her desk and opened her takeout. "I was until I found out the cricket's on and every Australian in a five mile radius has descended on the local."

Looking up from her lunch, Dawn caught Rachel's dreamy expression. "And don't get that Mmm... Australians... look on your face either. The moment the game started, they all started talking like bloody Steve Irwin. If I heard one more bewdy, mate, heads would've rolled."

"Wouldn't that be a public service?"

At first I thought it was a comment on differing cultures and accents.

Then I realized, no — it was a comment on men. :-) — via LiveJournal — posted by Mark Hunter at 01.10.2007 15:21 AEST | #

Australian men and sport. But then Dawn did return from the pub on her own, so it looks like something of a culture that crosses borders — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 01.10.2007 15:21 AEST | #

When it comes to men and sports, the names and accents may change, but the attitudes remain the same. It's proof that people are the same everywhere, although that's not necessarily a good thing — via LiveJournal — posted by Mark Hunter at 01.10.2007 15:21 AEST | #

::gasp:: dont diss up australians! we are quite a nice bunch of people and only steve Irwin is a dickhead. lol nah im just kidding. not about the steve irwin being a dickhead tho.

I am an Australian. When it comes to sport, the bulk of our fellow countrymen need to be beaten with a cricket bat to get any sense out of them — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 01.10.2007 15:23 AEST | #

ooooh YAY! another australian its always good! :D and that is so true, i try and stay away from the whole sports area oooh the OC should be on now must dash!! — via LiveJournal — posted by gets_it_faster at 01.10.2007 15:24 AEST | #

Definitely! They should totally put it into our national anthem or something. ::nod:: — via LiveJournal — posted by persephone_20 at 01.10.2007 15:27 AEST | #

The muse was getting a bit stumped on this until it went sideways. You're on challenge lists long enough and they start to get repetitive. That and I don't see why they all insist on running the same themed holiday challenges. Most annoying — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 01.10.2007 15:29 AEST | #

Hee, another enjoyable one from you. ^_^ — via LiveJournal — posted by Jan at 01.10.2007 15:30 AEST | #

I was blanking on this until I started thinking a bit tangentally — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 01.10.2007 15:30 AEST | #

Men! Who'd have 'em hey?

Okay so there are one or two notable exceptions... — via LiveJournal — posted by mad_jaks at 01.10.2007 15:32 AEST | #

Now, if you could just wrestle the remote control off them... — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 01.10.2007 15:32 AEST | #

To be honest I don't have that problem — except with the children. I am also the one who knows how to set the DVD recorder — via LiveJournal — posted by mad_jaks at 01.10.2007 15:33 AEST | #

Men and sport... ::shakes head:: So true. The minute any game starts, they're so into it. I like watching professional sports, but with a few exceptions, I'm not as enthused or into it — via LiveJournal — posted by chessie_reeves at 01.10.2007 15:34 AEST | #

I don't have a problem with playing sport or watching your mates play, but when it comes to professional sport it becomes more about money and less about fun and is pointless. Apparently I was born in the wrong country, as beliefs like that are likely to get me lynched here — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 01.10.2007 15:34 AEST | #
