by Red WolfDawn unwrapped the last present, sighing as she saw the shirt inside. She loved her friends and family but they were clueless when it came to selecting gifts.
Her sister always gave her Buffy-taste clothing. Willow opted for CDs from the bland end of the spectrum. Xander made great presents, but when it came to shopping he was lost. Andrew leaned towards geeky gifts or one of his bizarre home movies. Giles, at least, had an idea of her needs and had sent her a book voucher.
It was a good thing that Spike always made up for their gaffes.

Oh, sweet Spike being so brotherly to Dawn is adorable. Or maybe I am taking this wrong and he is being a kinky bastard. ::shrugs:: Either way, I liked it very much. :) — via LiveJournal

I'm not going to tell you which way I intended Spike to be taken, I enjoying seeing how different people read it.

Hee. I chuckle at this, because I half-assumed that Dawn frequently borrowed Buffy's clothing, at least until Dawn grew too tall to do so... But then, I can't see Dawn being all that into Buffy's S7 fashion... — via LiveJournal — posted by Dave at 14.01.2005 13:22 AEST |

I actually took that to be what big sister Buffy thought innocent little sister Dawn should wear — via LiveJournal

Aargh! Sorry about the pressies.
I have an Amazon wishlist and my family can't even manage to get me stuff off that. Fortunately I scored cash rather than than things they think I might like this year.
The problem is that they never listen. My mother should never have had kids. She thought babies were cute dolls she could dress up, she's never really gotten out of that mindset and I get things I loathe that she thinks I would like.
Then there's the novelty and cutsie thing my sister has. She knows I like vodka, but rather than getting me a vodka that I like, she thought that getting some generic stuff with blue dye in it that comes in a novelty bottle would be the same. After all, she can't taste the difference. She never takes the hint (direct threat on several occasions) about not getting me certain items either.
I've taken to cornering them and telling them they are getting something hideous until they tell me what they want.
Family. Can live with them, can't brutally murder them and bury the remains in the backyard — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 14.01.2005 13:27 AEST |

Awww.
I know how Dawn feels, but I think I'm more on the clueless giver end of the story. I will never understand how some people are able to get you that thing you never knew you always wanted.
But I can easily see Spike being one of those people — via LiveJournal — posted by Elizabeth Culmer at 14.01.2005 13:32 AEST |

I guess the secret is listening, failing that, cornering them with the threat that they will be receiving a stuffed and mounted raccoon if they don't tell you exactly what they want. There are ways and means — via LiveJournal

You do the drabble so well (that sounds like a dance).
Each word carefully chosen. Not one left to chance.
And the love that you feel for those that you write,
Is easy to see. It shines fulsome and bright.
Willow on caffeine! That make me shudder with fright!
The way Spike would see Tara? You got it just right.
And Spike… A gift for Dawn? I like that story.
The two getting it on? Then Buffy’d be sorry.
Keep them coming! Sorry. That’s my favorite pun.
Take it either way, but just keep making them come — via The Batpack — posted by Sandra Strait at 14.01.2005 14:26 AEST |
