Alley 09: Dysfunction

Dysfunctionby Red Wolf

Since Buffy had broken down and confessed the full extent of her relationship with Spike to her friends, their endless questioning was having a vertiginous effect on her.

Xander was a confused mix of glee and denial, while Willow was torn between comfort and condemnation.

Anya had suggested that if Spike was feeling in any way slighted, then Buffy could look forward to knowing the mating habits of leopard slugs intimately.

Tara didn't say anything, but her look was enough.

Dawn stood in the doorway, her arms folded across her chest, with an expression that brooked no argument. "Call Giles."

I did have to look that word up... good on you! But as ever, enjoyed this — and loved Dawn, who is just so much more fascinating in your alley!verse than the character she was "allowed" to develop into on the show. Bravo — via LiveJournal — posted by Willa at 09.04.2004 11:30 AEST | #

I love working with a developed, protective, strong Dawn. The muse, on the other hand, is insisting on more Spike snuggling and, for some unknown reason, is obsessing over leather pants again — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 09.04.2004 11:31 AEST | #

Leather pants... wonder why? ;-) — via LiveJournal — posted by Willa at 09.04.2004 11:32 AEST | #

Hee! That's Anya all right. Another good entry in the Alley!verse — via LiveJournal — posted by alliterator at 09.04.2004 11:40 AEST | #

Thank you. I've been dying to work leopard slug sex into a drabble — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 09.04.2004 11:40 AEST | #

Ooooh.... I'm kinda liking this Dawn more every day. She's like that one that turned all determined lil' spitfire on Spike in Season 7. Hee. Rather nice to see her do the same for Spike — via LiveJournal — posted by Rhonda at 09.04.2004 11:41 AEST | #

Thanks. It is nice to have Dawn not only take control, but not be ignored when she tries — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 09.04.2004 11:42 AEST | #

What's with all the shortness? That's annoying! they're good, don't get me wrong, but a longer story would be nice. like chapters, an ending, and a point — via fanfiction.net — posted by L at 09.04.2004 11:44 AEST | #

It's so sad that I only watched Buffy on occasion, and find myself more interested than the fanfiction than I ever was in the show. Eh.

I am loving the supers strong Dawn that you write; it's a nice refresher from the simpering, "Save me Buffy!" Dawn that I've become used to. And, well, I'm partial to the name...It never occurred to me that we have the same name till a few stories ago. *sighs* Sad, but true.

Is it strange that I feel a growing affection for Tara as well? — via LiveJournal — posted by Dawn S at 09.04.2004 15:18 AEST | #

I know quite a few shows purely through fanfiction. Some, like Forever Knight, are best left in the realm of fanfiction. After reading so many well written stories in the fandom, the show was a letdown.

Dawn's character suffered a few problems on the show. Her first few episodes are whiny because the character was written for a ten-year-old, but an older Michelle Trachtenberg was cast and it was too late to change the scripts.

The other problem is that a lot of fans didn't like having a new character, especially a mystically created sister, sharing the spotlight. But I loved her, as I'm a fan of Michelle Trachtenberg's from back when she did The Adventures of Pete and Pete. So rather than an interloper, I saw her as a familiar face.

I'm guessing your name oversight is down to domestic blindness; the inability to find your glasses when you're holding them in your hand.

As for Tara, I don't think it's possible not to love her. She is a wonderful character — via LiveJournal — posted by Red Wolf at 09.04.2004 15:29 AEST | #

Does she have to confess to the Fang Gang too? My, wouldn't that spoil Angel's perceptions of Buffy — via fanfiction.net — posted by Cathelin at 27.04.2004 12:05 AEST | #
